Displayed prominently at our farmers market stand, we have a sign "Try something new today! Free samples". We give out so many free samples. We encourage everyone that stops by to "just try it," and they never regret it. This is how the conversation goes just about every time:
"Have you ever had Rhubarb Jam"
"Yeah, it was a long time ago." The response is typically dismissive and uninterested.
"We highly recommend that you just try it. We pride ourselves on using about a quarter of the sugar as normal jams and jellies. We believe in letting the fruit do the flavoring, not the sugar," is what we tell them. Once they put it in their mouths and the flavors do a dance on their tongue, their eyes light up, and it's the same response every time.
"Oh wow, that is good!"
This is the point we tell them to
"try it on Greek yogurt," and they say
"I had never thought of that before."
This is because a regular sugar-filled jam or jelly would be terrible on anything besides bland carbs.
Next, we tell them, "it's also good in a margarita or a glass of whiskey. It's great as an appetizer with brie or cream cheese and crackers. It's also great straight out of the jar; that's how our kids eat it."
TRY SOMETHING NEW! So try something new today. Pick up a jar of our jam, and you will not regret it.
